Bleeding Corn ?

Question
My son was handling our 2 year old female corn today when we noticed a small speck of blood on his hand and t-shirt from the snake. I checked her all over and could not see where it could have come from, when we put her back into her tank she also seemed to poo out a clear liquid ball. She is feeding well, should we take her to the vets or is this normal for a female this time of year?

Answer
Hi Vikki....what your snake poo'd out was an unfertile/undeveloped egg!  You didn't mention if she has been around any male snakes.  Even if she didn't,female snakes can still go through faux pregnancy and it is normal for this time of year.  My second clutch of eggs is due any day now from one of my kingsnakes.
All in all..she will be fine.  There is even the possibility she will have more come out. Just try not to handle her for the next week. No worries though.  Good luck and thanks for writing :-)
