Corn snake in unheated room

Question
Hi i have been wanting to get a baby/adult? Corn snake for a while now.
My wife hates snakes and will only let me get one if i put it in a unoccupied bedroom that isn't heated in the winter,
We have central air in this room in the summer but no heat in the winter months.
My question is: Can i keep him in this room in the winter with a "uth" set at about 85f on one side? Or should i get another "UTH" for the other side as well with a thermostat to keep the temps slightly lower and more natural?

I plan on keeping him in a 20 gal fish tank with screen top if i get an adult, or a small critter keeper if i get a baby.
The room i will be keeping him in can get close to freezing in the winter, but is well insulated.

Thanks in advance

Answer
Ray,
In short, no. The snake will not survive unless you can find a way to make at least the snake's enclosure around 70 degrees in the winter. I suggest that you insist the snake be brought into another room during the winter months. Odd are, if you get a gentle snake, she will warm up to him. My wife did and she now holds them by choice from time to time.
