snake stargazing

Question
My 3 year old grey-banded kingsnake has a tendency to stargaze. I have read that that could be a sign of a psychological problem. Otherwise he acts fine. He eats, doesn't mind being handled too much and is very active. Sometimes I think he just sleeps with his body up and against the glass of the tank as opposed to stargazing. Is that possible? Any response would be helpful.
Thank you

Answer
Hi Kirsten
In my opinion...I wouldn't be the least bit worried about his stargazing. (One of my Rosy Boa's does this regularly)  You mentioned he eats well, handles good and is very active.  Those are the most important things to look for in the health of your snake.  There isn't anything you can do (treatment wise) to break him of his stargazing habit.  But if you ever want to you could have him thoroughly examined by a Veterinarian who specilizes in reptiles.  I hope this helped and thanks for writing :-)
