Red Tail Boa Refuses To Eat

Question
QUESTION: I have a red tail boa who is about 6 months old. She is a little
longer than when I got her before but I've had problems with her keeping her
food down since day one. One month she would take it every week for a
month. Then the next month she'd throw them all up.

Humidity 50-60% at all times. Temps stay around warm end 80-90 all the time. There is a cool end of around 80-85 She
gets all she ever needs. I just don't understand.

I don't handle her before or after feeding. I feed only thawed fuzzies
that are completely thawed and warm. She just lays there. She moves
when I take her out of her cage. She is loosing weight. I saw her drinking
water from her dish. I don't think she is shedding. Her eyes aren't
clouded over. Also she's sheded before so I know the signs of it. Everything is good. I just don't understand.

ANSWER: Take your snake to a vet asap. All the temps and humidity are fine which are the main causes of regurgitation.

Your snake may have an intestinal problem or internal parasite or some form of illness that stops her from being able to keep down food. A vet should be able to diagnose the problem and issue the correct treatment,

Thanks for your question,

QUESTION: Thanks for you help. Unfortunately, she passed away on Saturday. She had an appointment on Monday but no vet could see her over the weekend.

Answer
I'm sorry to hear of your loss. i doubt there was much you could do and the same with the vet. its a shame no vet could see her earlier, but the chances are they wouldn't have enough time to act effectively anyway.

I'm sorry about your boa, but thanks for the follow-up,

Andy
