strange rash on ball python

i have a four foot ball. recently she developed a bright red rash (possibly) on both sides of her tail. it is about five inches long and about one inch wide at the widest point. she doesn't display any pain when handled. I'M STOMPED, can you help identify this?

Hello Gio,

Do you have a hot rock in the tank? If so this could be the cause. If not what kind of substrate do you have in the enclosure. This could also be the cause.

If you have a rock you may want to switch to an undertank heater. A great substrate is Aspen, easy to clean small messes and is not abrasive to the snake.
