snake with broken back

Question
my boyfriend bought a baby ball python a little over a month ago and it has a broken back. he bought the snake like that and it ate a small mouse the first day we got it. I've tried feeding it twice since then and it hasn't eaten yet. i know ball pythons can be fussy eaters but i was just wondering if the broken back might have something to with it or if it could possibly cause other problems for the snake.

Answer
Hi Kaley,

How do you know the snake has a broken back? If the snake does have a broken back it could not move around at all unless its behind the cloaca or anus.

The back bone is vital to the health of a snake, meaning it will die from this.

If the snake fed once already it is doing well. A snake in pain will not eat.Just keep offering food every seven days.
