Question
We have a male veiled cham and he has not been eating or drinking for two days.  Also he has been keeping his eyes closed for a whole day now.  We have a 5.0 UVB light with a 100 watt basking light.  We also have a dripper for him.  We have the repti-breeze cage 2'x3'x3'.  We dust his crickets every time we feed him with the D3 calcium.  We have no repti-vet near us so any help we can get would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hello Bart,

Do you have any pictures of your chameleon?  How old is he?
How long have you been using the 5 UVB tube over him?  What brand is it?
Chances are, the 5 UVB is not strong enough, or it is too old or both.  The better choice of UVB bulbs would be the Reptisun 10 tube bulb.  You can get that from  www.petmountain.com  for a pretty good price.
He may not be able to absorb his calcium very well.  Are you giving him a multivitamin also?  Chameleons are very susceptible to vitamin A deficiency, so a vitamin with Beta carotene would be helpful, a couple of times per week.  Herptivite vitamins have beta carotene in them so it is safer than giving a vitamin with synthetic vitamin A in it as there is no danger of overdose.
What are the temperatures in the tank for him, & what type of thermometer are you using to measure the temperatures with?  A stick on type, a digital probe or a temp gun?
What is the humidity in his tank?

Let me know how he is doing.
