QuestionI would like to know how do you tell the difference between a male and female, blue tounge lizard?
AnswerHi Alysha!
Sexing blue tongues is very hard. The only way you can tell sometimes is that a male will have a slightly larger head but that is not always a sure thing. It is the same with many live bearing skinks, like the shingleback. Not even a seasoned veteran can be 100% sure. If you were planning on breeding, the only way too be sure is by purchasing a proven couple, or getting an expensive DNA test. The only other way is hit or miss, trying to introduce two skinks and separate if they become aggressive.
