Question
QUESTION: My female bearded dragon recently layed eggs again I have tried to stop her by seperating her form the male but she keep laying I know the can store sperm but she had 3 cluches so I reed to cool her down but she still layed after her last clutch she has started to do the thretning display when ever I go to feed her I was wondering 2 things 1 is there some way to make her have a rest from laying eggs and 2 why is she suddenly so angery anything u could advise would be appreciated thanks

ANSWER: Hi Angel,
Many people wish there was a way to stop them...but, until she is ready to stop, she will continue to lay from a few clutches to several. Since eggs start o form almost immediately after laying a clutch, its best to not try to cool them as then those eggs can possibly rot in them and cause problems.
Some beardies  won't lay if not with a male...and completely out of sight of the male..
But there is no way I know of that is 100% positive to stop them from laying eggs. Here is a great link to people talking about many egg laying thoughts, etc... http://www.bio.miami.edu/ktosney/file/BDeggs.html
The acting protective may be a sign that she is ready to lay her last clutch(one can only hope, right?) and even though it isn't really a protective act in all senses of the word, it may be a survival instinct.  She may be getting ready to lay another clutch and is protecting her nesting area. Do keep an eye on her as it can also be a sign that she doesn't feel well but it sounds like you are very attentive to your beardie and will notice any changes she may show.

QUESTION: So what maybe other signs that she maybe unwell cause she just layed a clutch and she still acts aggressive she is still eating and seems alert (walking with head high)  no respitorey problems (laboured breathing chest falls and rises normal) that I can tell am I missing any other major signs or anything else I should look for

Answer
Hi Angel,
It sounds like all is well right now with her... if you would see her frantically digging, trying to push out an egg for extended periods of time, and of course lethargic, etc would be signs that something isn't right.
She may just be protecting her nesting area as that in the wild they sometimes have to fight for that prime spot to lay eggs in. Hopefully in a few days she realizes that all is fine and safe with her tank.
