Green Anole and Gecko

Question
let me start off with saying that these two Lizards are not out pets they have adopted out front yard as their home, but we care for them all the same. we have had what i believe to be a Green Anole in out front garden for a year now, and recently my mom saved a Gecko ( not sure what type he is translucent with pink in him ) from the neighbors house where they were scared of him and were going to kill it, so she rescued it and placed him in our yard. my sister told her that the gecko and the anole are enemy and will kill each other. we haven't seen the Anole in two days and the gecko is now hanging around it the same spot the Anole used to habit. My mom is so upset thinking she may have inadvertently got the nole killed. I didn't think that either were very aggressive species so i have tried to calm her down, but she wants proof. so i am asking not for proof but for clarification if these two lizards can coexist in the same yard without killing each other off. they are close to the same size, the gecko being a little smaller than the Anole and i don't know what sex either is ( i said him just cause i didn't want to say it, it seems rude to call them it.)  i know you are all busy and trying to help those that have these beautiful creatures as pets but i hope that you have a spare moment to help me with this. i have tried looking up on the Internet but i am not very good with finding info, all i got so far is if a green and brown Anole fight the green usually wins killing the brown.
Thank your for your time and assistance.

Answer
Hello Nykki, well the Green Anole established his/her territory in your front yard. Intrudicing a new lizard might cause a fight over territory. males need a lot of space especially during mating season and they can fight to the death don't get me wrong. But it probably didn't get that far. There was probably a fight and the weaker one gave up and moved on. The gecko you say was translucent and pink? Can you help me out a bit for identifying him? What state do you live in. How is the climate. And a little more of a description. Its really neat you have a nice place for them in your yard. I am sure its fun watching them. The Anole probably got scared and felt threatened tried to fight and either he backed off from being the weaker or they faught and the gecko won. Usually the animal has common sense enough to back off before he gets really hurt but there is a chance. Does the gecko look anything like this?
