Leopard gecko tale burned

Question
Hi,
My leopard gecko has a heating lamp under neath his tank and his tale seems
to have been burned
i do not know how to treat it and there is sand stuck in it
i ran it under cold wanter but it seemed to hurt it
i am not sure what to do please help!

Hello Taylor,

Do you mean he has an undertank heater underneath his tank?  Do you have anything in between that & him, such as a tank liner like carpet or anything?  If not, I recommend putting some paper towels, or non adhesive shelf liner in between him & the heater.  
Oh take the sand out right now then, it will get infected.  
You can soak him first to clean the area, then, put some neosporin or polysporin ointment on it right now.  Look on amazon.com  to find some ointment called thermazene.  It is the equivalent of silvadene antibiotic ointment but without a prescription.  That should help it alot.  Please do remove the sand & replace with paper towelse right now.
