feeding a brown basilisk lizard

Question
Hello Yexalen,
I was just wondering how often I should feed my brown basilisk lizard? Just once a day, or more often or less often?  It's a female.  Also, is it okay to feed her earthworms because she seems to like them?  I know she is suppose to eat crickets, but I seem to be having a hard time finding them.  If you have a answer for me I greatly appreciate it.  I just want to make sure I'm doing everything right since I've only had her for a few days.
Thanks, Marnie

Answer
Hello Marnie, they should be fed once a day, adults can be fed every other day but they can still be fed every day. As many food items she can eat in 15 minutes. Earthworms are OK but they do enjoy variety. And do not feed worms are insects that you find in your yard. They can carry diseases that will pass to your Basilisk. Bait shop worms should also be avoided as most of the time they are wild caught. You should find a local worm farm or have them shipped to you online. Crickets can be found at most pet stores or from online carriers. They are farm bred and much healthier then wild insects.

Good luck,
Yexalen
