What can live with my Crested Gecko

Question
QUESTION: I just bought a Crested Gecko and i was wondering what other reptiles or amphibians if any can live in the same habitat with it.  I was wondering because i wanted to get a few frogs and maybe a chameleon of some sort.  So would i need to get another terrerium for them or if i have one big enough can the live together?

ANSWER: Dear James,
thank you for your question.
I don't recommend co-housing species. Usually, their requirements in diet, temperature, humidity and habitat differ too muh to be accomodated in one tank. The animals also have no room to avoid each other and this causes stress for them, it's possible that they will prey on each other, too. Chameleons in particular are susceptible to stress. Frogs have skin toxins that may harm othr frogs and lizards.

Unless you have a really big tank (more than 3ft long and high and 2 ft wide), I would keep just the gecko and get more tanks for each new species. You should also have experience with keeping each species bevfore you think about co-housing them so that you can judge their behaviour and will be able to tell if they are stressed or otherwidse bothered by their tankmates.
I hope I ws of some help to you
Jennifer

QUESTION: First off id like to say thank you for your answer.  Also i talked to a reptile expert at petco and asked him the same question and he said about the samething.  The only diffrent thing he said was that s possible choice if i had a big enough tank was a whites tree frog or another type of tree frog.  I looked up there housing needs and their temperatures are very close to that of the crestie.  I was wondering if they excreted the same toxin and if they would still cause stress even though i would be getting a larger cage around the size you were saying

Answer
White's tree frogs are not really toxic in the sense that anything that touches them dies or gets sick, but they still secrete substrances that may be harmful in the long run. That's true for all frogs.
Frogs tend to try and eat anything that they thing may fit into their mouth and I wouldn't try housing a gecko with a frog as large as a White's. Smaller frogs may get preyed on by the gecko. I really don't recommend housing them with your gecko.
