My bearded dragon keeps closing one of his eyes

22 14:08:27

Question
I am really concerned about my bearded dragon, he's been closing one of his eyes now for about 2 weeks, he does occasionally open it. When I look into his eye, it is really bubbly and little bubbles form around it when he blinks there is also a purple streak on the side of his eye. When I looked it up online it said something about UVB lighting causing reptile eye problems, I've had him for a year and I never noticed this problem up until recently. The UVB light that I've been using is a ESU Reptile Slimline Reptile Fixture w/desert 7%UVB lamp. The day light I've been using is a Sun Glo 100w and the night light I've been using is a Zilla 75w. I don't know if it's the UVB light or the day and night lights or something else, please let me know what you think, thank you for your time.

Answer
Hello Joseph,

Well, how old is the ESU slimline 7% UVB light?  How close is the light to him?
I do not think that the ESU slimline 7% tube light is the culprit, but it is not a good UVB light though to maintain his bones.  It has terrible UVB emissions.  So, I recommend getting the Reptisun 10 flourescent tube bulb instead. Make sure to change it out every 4-6 months for optimal UVB emissions.  It is an excellent light & has great UVB emissions.  You can get it from:

As for the eye problem, I think it will be the Zilla night light.  They can see color spectrum & it will disturb their sleep patterns & could possibly cause some eye problems.  He may not be getting the best sleep, either.

The Sun Glo is fine for the basking light.  Where is the basking light placed in relation to the UVB light, directly beside it?

Let me know how he is doing.
