Building a cage.

Question
George seems to be doing a lot better over the last few weeks that I put the UVB light inside his cage. Also I just started feeding him silkworms at night and crickets in the morning, and he is a lot happier. What I want to do tho. I want to build a 4-6'Lx4'wx7'H enclosure outside. I am thinking of getting 2 females to go with him, or to split that in half and keep one on each side. The only thing is I live in Florida, and it rains a lot here. Do you have any ideas of how I could keep him out in the sun to get his UVB, but still keep the heating lamps so that way they can stay heated up.

Answer
Hello Will,

Great that George is doing better with having the UVB light inside of his tank.  The exposure is stronger for him now.  It sounds like he is enjoying all of his new feeders now also.
Housing a male with a female is not recommended.  It stresses them way too much & they will overbreed as well.  Unless you are equipped to house & raise all of those babies, then it is best not to breed them.
You might be able to house 2 females with no problems, but, there is still no guarantees.  Bearded dragons tend to do much better housed alone.  They can be perfectly fine one minute with a tank mate & the next minute be attacking him or her out of nowhere.  Sometimes something just sets them off towards the other dragon.

If you are going to put his tank to where he can get outside sun, I would not have any basking lights on at the same time he is outside.  He will get overheated.  If you are going to do that, I would do half & half.  That is half of indoor time with the UVB & the other time, outside with sunlight & light regulation that way.  You could turn off the basking lights while he is outside to save electricity.
