Leopard gecko turning yellow

Question
My Leopard gecko has taken on a light yellow color that is beginning to concern me. Here is It's information: We belive it's a boy and it is my understanding that he is 8 weeks old . He'll only eat live crickets and meilworms and has his food calcium powdered twice a week. We use white sand in his tank and for heating we have a medium under tank heater and a 100wt light bulb that we keep suspended over the cage so the temperature stays under 95f. the discoloration greatly concerns me because recently he somehow digested a hair. We think all of it was digested but I'm concerned it may have hurt him somehow. please get back to me as soon as you can. Thank you for your time and advice.

Answer
Hello Nataily,

Can you post a picture of your gecko for me so I can get an idea of what you are referring to?  Thanks.  He is very tiny then for sure!
I do not think that the hair should have anything to do with a coloration problem.  What about a shed possibly?
However, I would change out the calcium based sand though.  They can get fatally impacted from that.  Some better choices are reptile carpet, non adhesive shelf liner, felt, paper towels or tiles.
The temperatures are ok, but the basking spot is not recommended to go over 88-90.  Could he be getting overheated perhaps?  Sometimes when they over heat, their colors change in order to help their body release heat & attempt to thermoregulate.  What type of thermometer are you using?  A stick on type, a digital probe or a temp gun?
Is he eating very well right now, & do you have a water dish in his tank for him?
