Question
I just acquired a baby 6 inch uro from the NARBC in Anaheim...He was doing wonderful for a week or so, and now he is not eating (for 2 days) and looks like he's losing weight. I have him on newspaper w/ a UVB and a heat light.  Feeding him greens and carrots. will try lentils tomorrow. he refused a small cricket and small mealworm today. Will talk him to the vet if no improvement tomorrow. What do you think?  Is there anything that babies just can't refuse food-wise?

Answer
Uros are mainly herbivores so don't bother with crickets.  I would have him checked by a good reptile vet To make sure there are no medical issues.  I would also make sure to use a digital thermometer and check his habitat.  Uros like it hot in order to eat and digest food properly.  I quote from my favorite uro caresheet:

These lizards are adapted to hot desert conditions. The cage should have a daytime hot basking spot where the temperature exceeds 120 F, however the lizard must be able to retreat to areas in the low 90's. Incandescent spotlights can provide hot basking spots. The wattage selected depends upon the size of the cage. Thermometers should be placed at both ends of the cage and monitored to ensure a proper temperature gradient. Under tank heaters can be used to supplement heat, however these are diurnal species and regulate their body temperature by basking in the sun. Spotlights more accurately approximately the way diurnal lizards obtain their heat naturally. Night time temperatures should be less that the daytime highs. Temperatures should be allowed to drop into the mid 60's F.
