Question
My 8 mo. old ball python has a cut on it's tail. It's not bleeding but meat is visible. Can I put antibiotic ointment on it? How do I protect the wound? Thanks for your help.

Answer
Hello Don,

What you should do it put antibiotic ointment on it, and wrap it up tight, just loose enough for blood flow.  When you wrap it, try to push the two sides of the cut together.  As for what you wrap it with, you should wrap gauze all the way around it, and then tightly tape the gauze around the wound.  You will want it pretty tight, just try to allow blood flow, your just going to have trust your instincts on how tight to do it. Put a new bandage on it 3 times a week for 2 weeks, if not healed, go on three weeks.  If it hasn't healed after that, take it to a vet.

I hope this info helps you, and good luck!
