Question
QUESTION: How can you tell if the beardys are in brumination

ANSWER: Hello Lewis,

Well, there are a lot of variables that to into deciding whether or not they are brumating or not.
What is your dragon's age?
Usually, they don't brumate under the age of 1, but, there are always exceptions.  They will begin spending less time under their basking light & UVB area with a decrease in appetite.  They "appear" healthy but want to sleep more & are much less active.
This is the time of year when many do begin to go into that phase as adults.  If you have any doubts, we should run over your tank setup to make sure it isn't something else first.  A fecal could be run as well to ensure your dragon doesn't have worms or parasites.

QUESTION: thanks our beardie is only about 5 or 6 months so thats good information for the future

Answer
Hello Lewis,

Oh he definitely should not be going into a full brumation at that age.  He may, however, slow down just a bit with winter time coming along but shouldn't do an all out brumation like an adult would.

Let me know if you need anything else.
