QuestionMy bunny has a circular scab about 1cm x 1cm, perfectly round, thick and dark brown in color. It is the only scab on her body. It it located in the center of her back. She also does not display any signs of balding, dandruff, ulcers, any other lesions or sickness behavior. I have found her to scratch at the scabbed area, though. I'm wondering if this could be serious and if I should take her to the vet.
AnswerDear Maggie,
While the problem may not be life-threatening, it's obviously bothering her. That means it's time to get her to the vet to see what the bump is, and whether it should be removed. It could be a melanoma, which should be removed ASAP lest it metastasize and become life-threatening. I can't guess from here, so a good rabbit vet is certainly a wise thing to find now:

If the area is not pigmented, it's not likely melanoma, and could be caused by a number of other things:

I hope this helps.
