Question
I was given a "pet store" bunny as a gift. I am guessing that it is some kind of mixed dwarf breed. it is small with short upright ears white and charcoal coloured (very much like my border collie' coat pattern :>) one eye is patially blue with some brown colour the other is brown. How do I figure out age, sex, breed? and should he or she have a friend (if so can it be a different breed?) can the rabbit live in its hutch in the barn in the winter? or does he/she need to come in? Sorry this may be too many questions...any help would be appreciated TIA Christina

Answer
Hi Christina,

Your bunny definitely sounds like a cross-breed to me. You probably will not be able to identify the breeds it is crossed between. The link below will tell you how to tell the sex of your rabbit:

It's not so east to tell the age of a rabbit. You can tell a rabbit's age (roughly) by looking at the teeth. If the rabbit is very young, the teeth may be semi-transparent. A young adult would have white teeth and on an older adult, the teeth would be horn-coloured.
But even experts can't really predict a rabbit's age very accurately.
Your rabbit doesn't need to live with another. But if you really want another rabbit you should know that two males cannot be kept together. Your rabbit can stay outdoors in the winter. It should be fine.

Hope this Helps
