Question
Hi

I'd just like to ask one more time about Ivermec for the treatment of worms so I don't do anything wrong here.

so my bun was given Ivermec on Aug 21

so he can be given it again after 3 weeks.

ok that's settled

i'd just like to know what can i do about the future? when do i give him Ivermec as a precaution so the worms definitely dont appear again

i suspect my bunny has ileus and i got a syrup from the vet which is ok but i don't want him to get used to it. can i use something natural to get rid of ileus?

thanks for helping me

Answer
You can deworm every 6 months to help prevent it. Keep the cage very clean, and keep contact with other animals to a minimum. Tha will also help a lot.

I am not exactly sure what ileus is. I looked it up, and the closest I could come was what we would call a hair ball or other intestinal blockage. Ileus is not used as a term with rabbits here. If that is what you are referring to, fresh pineapple, hay, and papaya (papaya tablets work just fine) can help prevent it. Pineapple can help break up a block caused by hair, as it disolves the hair, but it has to be fresh pineapple. A product called Petromalt can also be used to prevent blockages, and it can be used as long as you want. Once a week is fine.
