Question
Hi Sheila , my lop rabbit is 2 years old , I have had her for about 3 months and she has had to pregnancy and both times she has only had one baby and both times she has killed them . Will this keep happening ? This is so hart braking . She seams to do every think right by making the nest and pulling fur out for the nest . Is there any hope that she will have a baby that she wont kill ? From Rochelle .

Answer
Rochelle, usually when a doe kills her babies it is because she is lacking in protein in her diet.  Check the bag of pellets - she needs 18% protein.  You can up her protein a bit by giving her a teaspoon of unsalted fresh sunflower seeds a day.

Another trick is to give her a small piece of bacon starting on day 28 of the pregnancy up to 5 days after.  By small I mean the size of your thumbnail.  Sometimes they need extra salt and fat and the bacon works.
