Question
Hi,I have a female albino dwarf rabbit age 1, who is usually good natured towards my kids she has never bitten them or anything I had herd that these type of rabbits can be vishious, so I have a large hutch and run combo and I thought I would get her a friend for the hutch to keep her company, this rabbit is an 8 week old female flopeared rabbit, I only got her yesterday, I put her in the hutch and the albino is evil towards her I only just got the hutch yesterday, I could have understood this if i was putting the new rabbit in to the albinos hutch but they were both put in the new hutch at the same time, do you have any advice for me? is there any reason for this, or have I done something wrong, the little baby rabbit is shacking with fear, thanks,

Answer
Hi,

yes, you did something wrong.  You can't just put two rabbits together.  They will fight and can be injured or killed.

Separate them immediately.  You will have to keep them is spearate cages until the baby rabbit hits sexual maturity.

Rabbits pick their friends and need to be bonded gradually over a period of time.  Bonding will go much better if both females are spayed, as this cuts down on aggression towards people and other rabbits.

I suggest reading up on bonding rabbits at the House Rabbit Society web site:

www.rabbit.org

and doing a site search on 'bonding'.  It will bring up a list of articles on bonding two rabbits.
