Mucoid Enteritis

Question
Is mucoid enteritis a common disease? Does it only attack young bunnies?

Answer
Mucoid enteritis is most common among young rabbits, but it is not entirely limited to them. Older rabbits can also have mucoid enteritis, though they are much more likely to survive it. It can be fairly common. The actual cause of the disease is not known, but it is thought that stress is a factor. Good food, plenty of fresh grass or timothy hay, and good care will help in preventing it.
