QuestionWe have a 5 month old "Cinnamon" bunny who lives outside in a cage. This morning we went out to feed her and her head is tilting down to the right and is struggling to hop properly. did she have a stroke? I've read that rabbits fear can cause a heartattack. Last night the July 4th fireworks went off in our town which my husband said were very loud at our house (1 mile away). She doesn't appear to be in any pain but we are very upset and want to do whatever we can.
AnswerDear Sheri,
Head tilt/toricollis can be caused by many different things, and you can read an overview here:
www.rabbit.org/health/tilt.html
Also see:
www.bio.miami.edu/hare/tilt.html
You can find a good rabbit vet here:
www.rabbit.org/vets
and the sooner this problem is treated, the better your bunny's chances for a full recovery.
I hope this helps.
