Answer
Dear Candy,

Please read this immediately:

to get information on how to tell if your rabbit is sick.  I hope you can travel to find a veterinarian, because I do not think this sounds like something you can treat on your own.  Your bunny may have an infection, or may have a parasite (Encephalitozoon cuniculi) making him lose his balance and feel ill.  There are different treatments for each.  But the signs you describe are consistent with things that can cause a head tilt (torticollis) or hind limb weakness.  For the first one, please read:

www.rabbit.org/health/tilt.html

and

www.bio.miami.edu/hare/tilt.html

And for the second one, please read:

www.bio.miami.edu/hare/paresis.html  (including the linked article by Dr. Susan Brown)

I hope you can use the international listings to find a vet here:

www.rabbit.org/vets

I don't usually include dosing and medication information in these posts, but since you might have trouble finding a rabbit-experienced veterinarian where you are, I will share this information.  If you can find a vet who will be able to diagnose your bunny but not be very experienced with rabbit medicine, our vets might prescribe for a problem like this (depending on what it is, but if it is likely an infection or E. cuniculi):

1.  Baytril (enrofloxacin) - 20mg/kg twice per day
2.  Dual-acting penicillin G Procaine/Benzathine - one injection (NO oral penicillins!) every 48 hours under the skin, NOT into the muscle
3.  Panacur (fenbendazole) - 20mg/kg once per day

I hope you can find a vet who might find this information helpful.

If your bunny is not eating, please also read:

www.bio.miami.edu/hare/ileus.html

Please note that only a veterinarian can make an accurate diagnosis of the problem, and prescribe appropriate treatment.  The suggestion above is ONLY if the rabbit has a bacterial infection and/or E. cuniculi.

I hope this helps.

Dana
