Question
I apologize that this isn't a direct question I just didn't
know any other way to contact you.

I was reading some great information you wrote about metacam
in this question "High Metacam dosage, advice please" asked
by Sue. Although the ages affect this greatly and your
advice and opinion was 100% right I just wanted to add that
Metacam is also known to be an anti-inflammatory and my vet
prescribed .6ml for my 7lb rabbit. This was not only to numb
the pain of 3 molars removed but also to lessen the chance
of any swelling or increased pain due to tenderness of
inflamed gums. Im not sure of Kg to Lbs conversion but the
dose did seem really high for Sue's bunnies. Just wanted to
say that because Im sure you get TONS of questions about
metacam since its such a popular pain-killer in rabbits.

Thanks for your time Sorry its not a question!
Feel free to give your opinion on this :) Id love your
input!

Answer
Hi, Jen

If your bunny weighs 7lbs, that's about 3.2kg.  If you're using the standard 1.5mg/ml solution of metacam, then the high-end dose I mentioned (0.3mg/kg) would be 0.6ml.  So your vet's dose was right on target for what most of our rabbit vets use.

Thanks for your comments.  :)
