found pet bunny

Dear Pam,
 My children found a pet bunny, we took out ads to try to locate the owner, my question is it acts fine but it does have a small area on it's leg where it has been attacked by something, can I clean the area and put triple antibiotic on it?

Hi Tina,

Yes you can use triple antibiotic ointment.  Make sure to just use the plain ointment and not the plus version that has lidocaine in it.  Watch the area to make sure it doesn't get an abscess.  It is also wise to have the bunny checked out by a vet to make sure it doesn't have parasites.  Often times rabbits that have been in the wild pick up all sorts of things that are not good for them.
