Question
i have found three young rabbits and one did not survive the attack from a cat, the second i think just died and the third seems ok for now but is missing some skin from his hind leg (about the size of a #2 pencil eraser) it seems old enough to be on his own but what can i do for the injury for now?

Answer
Hi Brian,

take some hydrogen peroxide, and add an equal amount of clean water.  With a cotton ball dunked in this, gently dab the area.  Get the area as clean as you can without overdoing it.

Once this is done, use some REGULAR neosporin (not the neosporin plus) and coat the injured area.

You will need to get in touch with wildlife rehab folks in your area to see if they can take this little guy and rehab him for the wild.  Otherwise, if you are going to raise him, you need to get some books and info off the internet, and get him to a good rabbit vet as soon as possible.

I recommend picking up the books I list in my profile info.  Also spend time on the House Rabbit Society (www.rabbit.org).  And to find a good rabbit vet (not all are) go to:

www.rabbit.org/vets/vets.html

and find a House Rabbit Society recommended vet near you.

Thanks for caring about this little guy.  I can't tell how old he is given what you say.  But you can give him hay (timothy hay, alfalfa hay) and hay food pellets as well.  Needs soft areas to rest on (clean cotton towels or synthetic pet bedding).
