Should i take her to the vets?

22 10:15:11

Question
My female rebbit is about 3 years old now and has had a sore eye for a while now but seems to be getting better. It was bald around her eye and was very wet. Today she started to bite fur off her neck which i noticed has left her with a cut under her chin which is bleeding. It looks very sore. I am asking your advice on what it could be and what i should do about it. Also she does not like to be picked up and will scratch and growl at me when i try to. So it will be difficult for me to take her to the vets. Please help as soon as possible.

Answer
Dear Kathryn,

The two signs you describe--a runny eye and a wet, sore chin--are both strong signals that she may have molar spurs, or even a molar root infection, causing problems.  Please read this:

and find a good rabbit vet here:

www.rabbit.org/vets

Most rabbits do not like to be picked up and carried, as you can read here:

www.bio.miami.edu/hare/shybun.html

but you can gently herd her into a carrier for the trip, and reduce stress on all counts.  If she's not spayed, discuss this with the vet, too, as unspayed, unbred female rabbits have a very high risk of uterine cancer.

I hope this helps.
