Question
I have a one year old rabbit, who has always been indoors.  It is cold here now, (about 20 degrees in the daytime with snow) and would like to know if I can put Bunny outside for some exercise in this kind of weather.  We have a large dog run for Bunny to jump around in, but will he be able to tolerate the cold for a half hour or an hour or so?  Thanks, Wendy

Answer
Dear Wendy,

I'd acclimate him gradually before leaving him outside without any shelter.  You also can provide him with a warm box with hay and blankies in the dog run so that if he does get too cold he can cuddle inside it to warm up.

Daylight and outdoor play are very healthy, but don't shock his system by putting him out there suddenly.  Allow him to play in a room with an open window for a day or two, and then let him out for short periods, gradually lengthening the time as you see how he adjusts.

Hope that helps!
