QuestionMy one an half year old neutered lionhead mix rabbit has been naughty the last two days, unexplained. She has peed and pooped on my bed a couple of times, which is quite unusual. What is usual is that I let her run around my bedroom with her cage open and she goes in and out using her liter box (yes she is liter trained). She hasn't had this problem since being neutered well over six months ago. I am wondering if this is just a behavioral problem, marking some sort of territory, or could she be sick? Thanks for your time.
AnswerIf there is something unusual looking about her pee or poop or a change in dietary habits, it is possible she could be sick and a trip to the vet could be in order.
But it almost sounds like something territorial or a reaction to some change in environment or routine. Has something in your household changed at all? A new person or animals, any new construction in your area? Has your schedule changed at all?
If something hasn't changed, you might have to go back to some litter box training 101. You can add some hay to her box to entice her to go there. You may have to restrict her play area for a short time or just have supervised time out with her for a bit.
I hope these questions I've asked help jump start what may have changed her habits.
