Health Care questions about my rats

Question
pet therapy. Man, these things are awesome!

We have four, the spice girls : ginger, nutmeg, saffron and pepper.

Ginger has had blood in her urine and we did the vet thing and the antibiotics 2X but I think its a tumor instead. She acts 100% normal and my question about her is, could she be in pain and when do I know to put her down. I am sick to my stomach thinking she may be suffering and I can't find any info online about what I should do next.:(

Nutmeg is my favorite one and she was really sick a few weeks ago for a day, just acted all lethargic, etc. Then as soon as we noticed her head tilt, I researched her and found out about ear infections, so back to the vet. She is on day 8 of antibiotics. Her head tilt is still there and still bad. Her balance is off big time. This leaves me really sad b/c her favorite thing in the world is the exercise ball and she can't do that.:( Will her head tilt and balance get better? What should I do if it doesn't? When do I know when to put these girls down and if they are in misery :(

help!

Answer
Hi Spasm,

It is always hard to lose a pet. Im am glad to hear you would give her but for her well being. When she starts to show that she isnt feeling well is when you need to let her go. If she stops eating and drinking is usually a sign.

Your other rat should be fine if she is getting medicines. She will become balance again only after pressure is released off the cranial nerve. If Some some reason the Medicine will not work, she will continue with a head tilt and eventually die, there is not much you can do if the Antibiotics dont work.

Good Luck!
