Asthma and rats

Hi Charlotte. My husband and I would like to adopt a pet (or 2), but my husband is asthmatic and reacts badly to most cats and dogs. We don't really know if its the fur or the dander or a combination of both. I am wondering whether he would have similar problems with rats? I have read that they are very clean, but do they shed a lot? What about dander?

Most people who allergic to dogs and cats find that rats don't work for them ethier. Sorry.  

You could try getting hairless rats. This usually works out better than hairless cats or dogs if it is the dander because obviously theres less of it, and it can be easier contained than a cat or dog could be.
