Quality Rat Food

Happy Snuggle Pile   QUESTION: Hi Sandra,

I know I keep asking you to remember me, after all the people you help!  But I am the person who lives in NY and had my female rat visit the boys cage resulting in 12 babies from a very young mommy rat.  All made it - with tons of thanks to you!!  I gave two boys to my Mom who loves them, and I gave two girls away...which bothers me EVERYDAY!  

I am sending a snuggle picture of the brothers, who now live full time with their Daddy.  I knew you would love this picture I took.  It was a lucky moment to capture!

My question...What do you think about these "on-line" food mixes to purchase?

Thanks for the photo.  They are so cute. I love rat piles:)  Makes me want to jump in and cuddle with the little brats!

As for the rat diet on that site, yes, thats a nice diet. I looked over the ingredients too and it all looks good. Be sure to buy a bag of the harlan lab blocks too, so you can feed them both the mix and the blocks as well.  

I think I may even check into ordering from them too. I like what I see so thank you for the link!!

QUESTION: Great!  I'm so glad you approve of the ingredients.  I was happy to find the website myself.  There are so many different types of the Harlan Lab blocks..which one do I choose?

ANSWER: Hmmm......they are offering two types of harlan. One is lower protein at 18% which is still a bit high and its for growing and pregnant or lactating rats and the other is soy based which is good since they claim it may help prevent tumor growth in rats but I dont like the protein at 22% either.

They should stick to 15% or lower.

I am going to check out another source for harlan blocks and get back to ya on that.   Gash that makes me sound like Sarah Palin...."get back to ya."

QUESTION: You've got a great sense of humor!!  Just by the way, what is your 1 biggest reason not to vote Palin?
The picture of the caribou got me!!  But I'm not for abortion...so I'm kinda stuck.  How about you?  Will you run for President?  You've got my vote!!  Rats of America Unite!!

Ok, back to my serious response...

I've been feeding all the rats Harlan Teklad 2014 Adult with 14% protein, along with my own mix.  

Just buying some mix or adding it to my own would stretch it a little!!  Time saver.

Tsk ! Tsk! Tsk!  You know religion and politics dont make for good conversation and it can cost you some friends along the way. My father and I are going toe to toe on this election and finally I said DAD! STOP! I am 45 years old, let me make my own decision and stop sending me this terrible slanderous email about Obama when there isnt an ounce of proof to back it other than the word of FAUX NEWS...errr... I mean  FOX NEWS, the known conservative news channel that spends more time reporting about Obama did this and Obama did that than real news!! Its ridiculous.

My biggest reason to NOT like Palin?  Ohhhh man, I only get ONE reason? Thats impossible!!!  lol !! I cant sum that into one answer.
Ok well you asked...here goes:
She is a hypocrite for starters.  I am NOT for abortion, I think its wrong, however, I dont want someone telling me what to do with my body and my own reproductive organs, so I am pro choice. Its a hard thing to be when you think abortion is wrong but we still should have the right to choose.  Lets see....she wanted to ban books with cuss words. We are talking classics such as Catcher in the rye, many books by Mark Twain among many others.  She claims she is a hockey mom and she and her husband are middle class. MIDDLE CLASS? HA! Hockey moms dont run for VP. Hockey moms spend all their time with their kids, taking them to sporting events, dance and music lessons etc...she doesnt do that!!!!!! She is governor of 600,000 people and some reindeer!! SHe doesnt drive a mini van! She has a LIMO!  OH, and middle class people are not worth 1.5 million dollars and own several homes, planes and boats. She doesnt know squat about real politics and that scares me. SHe will bring women back to the 18th century with her ideals. You cannot legislate morality, it is something you just have or your dont have. She wants to make it a law.
I am NOT for the war and I certainly do not want them to "Drill baby! DRILL!" and destroy our sea life and the ocean as we know it.
Am I done yet?  LOL!  I also hate the smear tactics they are using against Obama. It is about race now and I dont mean running around a track, either. If Obama has these terrorist ties, why isnt he being detained and questioned by the proper authorities?  Oh and last but not least...she is an ANIMAL KILLER!  That alone makes me want to throw up what she has allowed to take place with the beautiful wolves. I mean, the slaughter from the air was bad enough but putting a gun to wolf pups heads at point blank range and pulling the trigger and you call herself and woman of God?  No thanks. I am now getting off of my soap box :)  Please  nobody bombard me with your opinions on politics, I am only answering Heidi on a personal level and it is my constitutional right to vote for whom I want to vote for, as it is every other American citizen :)

That said, I like the choice of harlan at 14% better than the 22%. I would continue doing what your doing as far as diet goes. Sorry I blabbed about Miss Palin ...she is a sore spot big time!
