Tinkerbell the Chinchilla matted eye fur

Tinkerbell the Chinchi Hello,
My chinchilla has some matted fur under one of her eyes which she has never had before. I have had her for almost two years and she has never had this before. Her eye appears fine and she does not itch or scratch the area. Is this something to be concerned about?

Answer
From the picture it looks like she has had something irritate the eye. This is common in cages where you feed loose hay as a piece could stick they eye causing a minor injury. The eye then begins to water causing the matted fur. Most injuries are minor and fix themselves within a few hours. If the eye is still watering you should take her to vet to be sure it isn't a more serious injury that requires some eye drops.
