Question
I breed chinchilla's and I was wondering, in the wild when do baby chinchilla's leave thier nest... basically when can the baby chinchilla be  away from its mom and on its own

Answer
Dear Jan,
thank you for your question.
To be properly socalized, chinchillas should stay with their mother for at least 12 weeks. The females can stay with her longer, but the males must be separated at that time because they are able to breed then.
I hope I was of some help to you
