Hi Cass

I have two 1 year old female rats, I was told to feed them there veggie everyday but I was also told that if you fed them veggie everyday the could get tumors is that true?

Fresh fruits and vegetables are great for rats. Banana, peas, shredded carrots, corn on the cob, red and green leaf lettuce, apples etc are great for them. But remember, anything in excess can be harmful. Oranges are known to prevent mamary tumors in does. :)Giving fresh fruits and veggies too much however can lead to diarrhea, so it's best to do so sparingly. I usually reserved those food items for treat time.

A favorite game among rat enthusiests is frozen pea diving. During the summer when it is hot you can add a few frozen peas to a water dish and watch your rats "fish" for the peas. Some rats will even dive under water to retrieve items. :)

Point being, as long as you aren't feeding too much or anything harmless fruits and veggies are fine. :)
