Golden spiny mice

Could you please let me know the differences between golden and egyptian spiny mice? I own two pairs of goldens. Also could you please let me know a little on raising the babies(so the parents don't eat them, this happened with my first litter). And aslo if you could, direct me to a good site on these creatures. Thanx.

I think it is the colour as I have not yet owned these mice.  Try on yahoo and search for spiny mice.
The best thing to do to stop cannabalism is to split up the mice once they have had babies.  Leave the female who gave birth to the litter in the same cage she had given birth in.  Put others in another cage.

I recently had a problem with my mice eating others litter's.  I have also experienced this with guinea pigs.

Alternatively you should move the cage to a quieter spot as the mother mouse could feel that her babies are in danger.  If you do not want to split the mice up then give them lots of food and treats.  This should make them leave the babies alone.
