New pet rat

Question
I just got a new rat today (I  already have one). So I waited an hour so she could get used to the cage. I was stroking it and attempted to pick it up but it bit me hard and drew blood. I don't think she was socialized before I got her and she had a shaky ride home.Did I startle her? Should I return her to the pet place or wait a few days before picking her up?

thank you for your question.
Give her some more time, maybe she's not used to human contact (pet shop rats were often born there and no-one plays with them or picks them up there). Offer her treats on your flat hand and put your hand in the cage so that she can come and explore by herself. I don't think that it will take very long for her to get used to you.
