Question
QUESTION: My mouse has a cut near the ear, the others could clean it but only made it worst, it has been cleaning it non stop and has gone near the eye... is there anything I can do that can make him stop and heal the area irritated???

ANSWER: Hi!

All small wounds on a mouse should be immediately cleaned with a watered down dose of antiseptic substance, or else there's a chance of an infection which may be fatal to the animal. Be very careful not to let the substance touch his eyes though!

If the wound doesn't seem to be healing you should separate the wounded from the rest to a small habitat of his own. An ordinary cut should be healing quickly with proper cleaning if there is no infection already, and in the case of an infection take the mouse to the vet as quickly as possible to be treated with antibiotics. Hope this helps!

QUESTION: do you know of any antiseptic substances i can purchase in a store or maybe use a at home product that will be safe for the animal?? I put olive oil on it ( a friend had the same problem and put olive oil on it) and it seemed to calm the cut and looks a little better.

Answer
Hi!

I suggest you try your local pharmacy, unfortunately I can't give you any names for products as these things change from country to country. The substance will have to be watered down a bit, in case of a product with cetylpyridinium chloride as the agent I've used the dose of 1 drop of antiseptic and 20 drops of water.

Best wishes!
