Question
On the fourth of July, I was holding my hedgehog and putting neosporin on his ears as they are starting to ruffle. I had also cleaned his cage and toys and sterilized everything. All of the sudden, he went nuts. Trying to squrim out of my arms and when I finally got him to his cage, he kept running around all over the cage, then running on his wheel for hours. now he is distrought, and unfriendly. he has always hissed quite a bit, but it would quit after a few meal worms. Now hes down right mean and honery. his fecies is also a tinge green. Can you give me any advice? he has calmed down somewhat. not running around so much, but still fights when being picked up and is very irratable.
Also he has been eating, dry cat food, snow peas , slices of corn on the cob, bananas and apples. please respond asap.  thanksEva

Answer
You might want to cut down on the veggies and fruit. Also, never put neosporin on the ears. Use vegetable oil or corn oil instead (works great!), like what you cook with. Hedgies will lick whatever you put on them, so you never want to put anything with medication. Probably the neosporin and excitement from the noise stirred up your hedgie. Lose the neosporin and your hedgie should calm down. Also, more dry cat food instead of all the veggies and fruit. It is good to give veggies and fruit, but not too much or too often.
