Hamster ilness

Question
My hamster has a bubble near his butt on his under-side. He is 7 months old
and is big for a silky hamster. His wheel isn't that big and we think that he
was running and skinning his butt on the side and that made the bubble. The
bubble. The bubble is pink at the bottom and the whole end is deep red with
a little bit of deep yellow. He doesn't seem to feel it at all. We were
wondering if it might be an abcess or a infection or something. Could we poke
it with a sewing needle? Use any cream? My dog recently had puppies but
had to get a C-section so she had to use pain pills from the vet. We were
wondering if giving him some of 1 of her pills would help. Sorry for asking so
much :) Thanks

Answer
Sounds to me that if it looks yellow it may be getting infected. I wouldnt recommend give the hamsters any medication such as pain pills unless your vet give them to you for that particular animal. What you can do is watch it closely for getting more inflamed or oozing. You can try rubbing an ointment on it for healing if it opens like Neosporin or peroxide side. Note that anything that you place on it he is likely to lick, but these two over the counter items wont cause him to get sick from it.

As far as the wheel maybe you need to by another or look into finding some method of prevent it from rubbing your hamster when in use.
