Degu shedding fur

Question
Hi Carol
I adopted a degu a couple of months ago from a shelter and she's doing well. She still won't eat any fresh veggies but I give her dried ones, which she picks through. I have her on the Sunseed "Degus Diet" I also give her hay and a few guinea pig pellets everyday. I sprinkle small amounts of rolled oats (a pinch) in her bedding to let her forage. I noticed that she's shedding a bit. Her coat looks great, shiny and full but I've never seen her lose any fur before. I'm assuming it's normal, unless she starts to get bald spots. It's very cold here and quite dry about 39% humidity (even with the humidifier going), I keep the room between 68-72 degrees Fahrenheit. Is there a particular type of liquid vitamin I could add to her water to make sure she's getting everything she needs?  I have vita drops for hamsters but I'm not sure if that would be suitable. Thanks for your help.

Answer
Greetings!
Those are the vitamin drops that I use too, so don't worry about that.  Keep trying to introduce fresh veggies and eventually maybe she'll get used to them. Her staple diet (what should be available to her should actually provide her with what she needs, but by offering a variety she can eat more of one thing or another when she's lacking in something.
Good luck!
Carol
