Mouse Meds?

Question
I have two mice, one of which is hurt. I don't know what happened but she has a large open wound on her side, I think maybe its from a fight. I noticed it about two weeks ago and thought it would heal on its own. But tonight i arrived home to find her not looking well at all. I want to help her some how, I was thinking maybe some anti bacterial cream could help. But would that be bad for a mouse? Or is there something else i could do? I fear she may die if i don't do something.

Answer
Hi!

It's very hard to give an advice when it comes to medicine for mice, as the laws concerning these things may vary greatly from country to country and what may be available here may be marketed with an another label over there! However, if a mouse gets wounded the wound must be cleaned immediately with an anti-bacterial substance usually dosed as one drop of the anti-bacterial solution and 100 drops of water. Your local pharmacist may also have more information about which products would be suitable for mice, if you're lucky!

Sounds like the wound has been infected, and she'll most likely need antibiotics to recover. I suggest you turn to your vet immediately, as if left untreated the infection WILL be fatal!
