Hamster help, serious or normal?

Question
I have had my teddy bear hamster for 5 days now& this morning around 5am she was running from one end of her home to the other(2 put together by one tube) She would get into her defense position on her back and roll around&sqeak, other times she was literally bouncing off the walls. she was making a whole lot of noise&it was sad to watch. i didnt put my hand in there to try to calm her down because shes not used to me yet and shes VERY jumpy as it is, i didnt want her to sense that i was scared and bite me. so it makes sense, if i was watching a scary movie and it was a person in their home, it looked exactly like she was being attacked/chased etc by a ghost, because there is nothing in her cage. She would go in her wheel, jump down, there was a lot of falling and hitting her head. i dont really think she was having much fun either. I stayed up watching her for a good hour, but im not sure if it went on for any longer. is this normal?

Answer
Dear Keri,
thank you for your question.
That is definitely not normal. It sounds like some kind of seizure, although an hour is very long for that. I really wound see a vet with her to find out if there is anything wrong with her that needs to be treated. Rodents can also hallucinate, which can be caused by various things, but only a vet can give further advice on this. www.rmca.org/Vets lists good rodent vets.
I hope I was of some help to you
