Sick Chinchilla

Question
Hi, my chinchilla is sick and although I have taken her to the vet I do not believe
that she was properly diagnosed. She is constantly making a growling noise, I
can tell she is very uncomfortable and rears up on her back legs and chatters
her teeth when she sees me. My vet thought that it is gas bothering her but she
has been like this for 4 days and I am very concerned. Any advice that you can
offer me would be very appreciated. Thank You!

Answer
It sounds like she is showing aggression towards you. My question is have you changed anything or done anything differently with her. Chinchillas like routine and changes in routine can cause a little bit of aggression. Also how long have you had her?
All in all, the symptoms you are seeing sound just like aggression. If she is only doing this when you go in the room my advice is to speak softly to her through the cage until it stops and then once it stops open the cage latch. Don't try to chase her out the cage or anything, just let her come to you naturally. Don't be surprised if she bites you, she is just testing you out.
I hope I have helped, but I may need more information on your chinchilla like cage size, how many times do you give her a dust bath and so on.
