Chinchilla - mucus

Question
I have a two-year-old female chin that I have never had to vet. Two days ago she started having very small, hard feces so I gave her a raisin a day hoping it would soften her stools.  This is day three, and now she is secreting a LOT of mucus - but I don't see a change in her feces.  She is my only chin and has no exposure to other animals.  The only thing I can think of is that I did use some older food for her when I was running out last week.  Could this be purely dietary?   She has had a light case of diarrhea in the past and this doesn't seem like the same thing. The mucus is semi clear and very odorous.  Any suggestions?  Thanks, Kari

Answer
Where is the mucos coming from? If she is secreting something from her behind I would personally take her to a vet because she may have a bladder infection or gallstones. As far as her having stomach problems you may want to try some acidphillus+ generally that's good for digestive problems. I would honestly take her to a vet as that is the best way to ensure that she better as soon as possible.
