chinchilla hurt

Question
we came home today and found our chin with his leg caught in the bars of his cage. we have had him for 5 years and is in good health. he is almost 8 (he was a rescue)When we freed him he dragged his back end for a few seconds (as if paralyized) but then was able to move. we checked the legs and no bones apear to be broken, however when he jumps around (we are holding him and trying to keep him still) he sometimes starts to shake and chirps.our vet is closed. i think he has a bad sprain and hurts himself when he lands wrong. is ther anything over the counter i can give him to help the pain? anything to comfort him? we will try for the vet tomorrow but it is breaking my daughters heart now.i too am a night owl so i will hopefully hear from you tonight to help him.

I am not familiar with using an over the counter medicine with Chinchillas but I found a website that give medicine found over the counter, doses, and recommendations for its use that may help you. I am sorry that I cannot be of further help.
